Graffiti Alley
Toronto’s Graffiti Alley can only be found in Toronto’s Fashion District. This decorative alley runs for 3 blocks of creativity; thats just over half a mile ! Most of the art has remained the same, and some new stuff has been added to it over time.
Most already know, that graffiti is considered vandalism. Graffiti Alley has become a treasured attraction for both locals and visitors, but it wasn’t always seen as valued art. Later an issue arose between what is street art versus vandalizing property. Local authoritative figures had a hard time seeing the difference between the two opposing artful sides. This controversial debate is still ongoing, but in 2012, The City of Toronto made a new form of what is accepted; reduce graffiti vandalism and have it replaced with creative murals/street art instead, to then congregate community and have a fun and engaging time with observing these masterpieces.
