The Importance of Good Nutrition
Why it’s important
People know that having a balanced diet or good nutrition helps their physical activity endurance as well as lose weight. There are so many reasons why it is important to eat well:
- Lessen the risk of some diseases: heart disease, diabetes, some cancers, or osteoporosis
- Lower high blood pressure
- Reduce high cholesterol
- Boost your immune system
- Recover faster from injuries
- Boost your energy or improve sleeping
What is good nutrition?
Having your fruits and veggies as well as protein helps get your body the nutrients it needs. The body already produces some, but food can help increase it.
Eat The Rainbow!
Fruit – eating the whole fruit not just juices
Vegetables – no one likes their veggies, but try dipping them in some hummus!
Whole Grains – your whole grains like cereal, pasta and rice
Whole Milk – getting the full milk is healthier than “low fat” etc., otherwise it’s full of other additives.
Lean meats – meat is a great source of protein! Yes, there are other ways to get protein, but animal fat is primal for the body
Other proteins – fish, beans, or tofu
